When it comes to Three Amigos Mexican Restaurant in Brandon, FL, the food is definitely a highlight. However, during my recent visit, I was disappointed to find that the traditional crunchy beef tacos we ordered came out with the shells already broken. It felt a bit cheap of the restaurant not to take the extra care to ensure that the shells were intact, especially given the relatively high price of the dish.
Despite this minor setback, the tacos themselves were still quite tasty. The seasoned ground beef was flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the toppings of lettuce, cheese, and tomato were all fresh and flavorful. It’s just a shame that the presentation wasn’t up to par.
On a more positive note, the fish tacos we ordered were excellent. The fish was cooked perfectly, with a crispy exterior and tender, flaky flesh. The slaw added a nice crunch and freshness to the dish, while the chipotle sauce provided a spicy kick that was just the right level of heat.
The breakfast burrito was also a standout. The combination of scrambled eggs, chorizo, potatoes, and cheese made for a hearty and satisfying meal that was perfect for starting the day. The flour tortilla was warm and soft, and the ingredients were all well-seasoned and flavorful.
One thing that stood out during our meal was the house-made salsas. The restaurant offers a variety of salsas, each with its own unique flavor profile. The mild salsa was perfect for those who prefer a more subtle heat, while the medium salsa had a bit more kick. We even tried the extra hot version, which was available by request only. It was definitely not for the faint of heart, but for those who can handle the heat, it was a delicious and spicy addition to our meal.
Overall, while the broken taco shells were a bit of a letdown, the food at Three Amigos was still quite good. The fish tacos and breakfast burrito were both excellent, and the house-made salsas added a great burst of flavor and heat to our meal. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for authentic Mexican cuisine in the Brandon area, just be sure to keep an eye on those taco shells!
